THANK YOU VIDEO ESCAPE and PET SUPPLIES PLUS!!
Since we do not have a shelter at this time, all of our adoptable pets are in foster homes. So we have arranged for 'shows' to be held in various places in our area to bring all of our wonderful pets together in one place! This gives all of you potential adoptive families the opportunity meet our ALL of our Adorable Adoptables in person - and choose just the right pet for you!
But please know that you are welcome to visit any of our pets by appointment. So if you see that special pet in our Available Pets section, feel free to fill out our online Adoption Form - and indicate that you would like to schedule an appointment and we will be happy to contact you to set up a mutually agreeable time and place!
Pet Paws Featured Pet for February!
Cinnamon is a beautiful 4 month old American Eskimo Dog/Husky Mix. She has those stunningly blue Husky eyes and the softest, finest fur - light brown with a hint of reddish-orange, hence her name! She has already stolen the hearts of her foster family with her beauty and sweet temperament. She is current on all shots and meds, such as intratrac (for kennel cough), is already housetrained and will be spayed prior to adoption. She was
surrendered to us by her owners who decided after getting her from a shelter that they could not keep her as she was going to grow larger than her little puppy size!?! - but she is only a medium sized dog! And we know this lovely baby girl will be a perfect fit for a loving family willing to provide her with a forever home full of love! [ID: 165]
For more info, e-mail or to adopt Cinnamon - or any of our other Adorable Adoptables!! - just fill out our online Adoption Form! NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!
Special Mention!
Pet Paws is always so pleased and encouraged to be reminded that there are many fine people out there who are dedicated to protecting pets and ensuring that they have a very high quality of life, and when such a person is brought to our attention, we enjoy honoring them with a Special Mention - as these people, to us, are some of the truest heroes!
In this issue of the Gazette, we would like to give Matthew Glaser our prestigious Award of Merit! This is an eight year old boy from Long Island, where there was a horrible fire that destroyed a pet store ... and sadly, almost ALL of the animals died in that fire. The cause of these many deaths was that the pet store did not have a central fire alarm system installed, so by the time the fire department was notified and the firefighters arrived, it was already too late for the pets.
Matthew, who lives local to this tragic incident, heard about it and was greatly saddened by the terrrible loss of all those lives ... and then and there vowed to do something about it!!
Amazingly, this little eight year old started a 'Pet Ition' [get it? ;-)] to put into law that all pet stores and vet offices MUST have proper alarm systems in place that will give enough warning so the pets' chances of being saved will be greatly increased.
And he's DONE IT!!! Matthew has gathered enough signatures on his petition that the Executive of Suffolk County, Steve Levy, has initiated an Executive Order which mandates that pet store owners and veterinarians organize a meeting with all of the fire marshalls in their area to develop a plan that will offer these pets the very best chance to make it out alive if there is a fire.
And ... Assemblywoman Ginny Fields has written a bill that she will be presenting in the NY State Assembly for passing - with the ultimate goal of making it a law ... to be called Matthew's Law!
Matthew was also presented with a Proclamation - recognizing his impressive contribution to his community to make it a better place!
Clearly, of course, our little award is no big deal to Matthew, but we really admire this child who has done more than most adults would attempt - and succeeded - and we'd like him to know that we really appreciate it!
