Really Care Management opens its doors to all-sized businesses,
challenging proof of good business ethics
and offering an
Ethics Award to those companies
that 'Really Care' about
ethics in business and in the community.
When we become aware of an individual or company that has acted in an ethical manner, we may choose to feature them on this page with a Position of Honor. This does not automatically assume consideration as an RCM Ethics Award contender, as the company or individual would have to apply for this Award thru the normal channels to be eligible.
This Position of Honor is bestowed on deserving recipients as our way of encouraging
honest, ethical and fair business practices within the business community.
David Yarnold, Executive Editor of the San Jose Mercury News
was most recently selected by Really Care Management as
holding a Position of Honor,
recognizing his ethical behavior in pulling copies from his Sunday magazine, SV,
when
he was concerned about 'balance and fairness' in one of the stories
- that would have impacted voters before the Nov 7th, 2000 election.
David Yarnold stated:
'Every day in our editorial Mission Statement on page two,
we say we are passionate about accuracy and fairness.
This is an unfortunate, embarrassing decision,
but it's true to our values.'
His act was pulling 350,000 copies of a section of this newspaper's
Sunday paper before delivery, due to one story about a lifelong Democrat
who wondered how friends and people he admired could join the Republican Party.
This story was not published due to an ethical decision of David Yarnold,
who had concerns about its influence since that issue
did not provide an opposing view.
Recognition of this ethical behavior was made by Really Care Management
for his demonstration of 'moral leadership and professional behavior'.
